Hero - Mariah Carey

There's a hero If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid Of what you are
There's an answer If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know Will melt away
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
It's a long road When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand For you to hold
You can find love If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt Will disappear
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Lord knows Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone Tear them away
Hold on There will be tomorrow
In time You'll find the way
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

Jinxed...?

I don't know why, but things have been pretty bizarre lately. Maybe it's lack of sleep.

One day I actually drove over a bleeding divider that was placed across the original entrance to the public swimming pool car park. I was in a hurry, trying to squeeze in a few laps b4 work, and didn't see the damn thing until I found myself stuck astride it. Took a bunch of men inc a commando type guy to disengage my car from it. I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to simply block the entrances with foot high dividers that blur katak people like me would not see until it's too late... Tayar aru tukar lak tu... Needless to say, I scrapped my swim that day.

Now the project which I really must complete on time is having so many strange problems. I've been using Access for yonks with no problems whatsoever, but tonight, I couldn't import data from Excel due to whatever unknown reason and I couldn't program my form to calculate simple data. I couldn't even record decimal numbers... So now I'm back to traditional methods - use the calculator. Wish I hadn't wasted time setting up Access tadi... Well, to be fair, it NORMALLY does make my life easier... Excel pun banyak kali jam, cannot open... Apasal lak nih....?

Pseudo is acting strangely too. He's kind of whiny/ mengada/ merajuk?? Strange. He's never like that one... He's... MOPING... what? But, he's a CAT!! sabar ajelah...

Someone is having mega problems with her Mat Saleh hubby. So now I'm juggling my unfinished work and counselling at the same time. Talk about timing... damn! Signing off now. Hope things get better tomorrow. Tonight's screwed!!

The Spring is Silent

As you grow, you learn to give much, and expect little. You also learn that much comes back from different sources, in many different ways. And sometimes you realise that you have nothing left to give...

As Bilbo Baggins put it, “You feel stretched, taut; like butter scraped over too much bread.”

People take you for granted. They know that you will take care of yourself. They let you take over their share of responsibility. They think that your spirit will spring eternally forth without the need to be nurtured. They assume others are giving you what you need. They are wrong.

We didn’t ask repayment for what we gave; yet our spirit yearns for it. And when the spirit lacks nourishment, it begins to fade. What once was effortlessly given; now becomes a burden to us. Still they fail to understand, why our giving is no longer blessed with joy. Still they give nothing away. They stand there; unheedful, uncaring, unconcerned that the spring is running dry.

Let’s not forget that the spring does not come about on its own. It grows from collective droplets of the rain. Little drops that fall on the ground, seeps deep into the earth, trickles and gathers, gaining strength, until it finally emerges forth into the sunlight again, flowing, giving, nurturing.

The spring is silent. Without rain, there would be little for it to give. And without its healing waters, the most verdant forest would turn into desert…

~ Let not our hearts die, for then what other reason would be left for us to live?

Mz Picky-About-What-I-Watch is suddenly interested to watch 3 shows:-

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

What to do when you’re sick…

Got some kind of bug yesterday, leaving me feeling queasy and bloated. This morning woke up feeling like I’ve been run over by a truck! As usual, my thought was – work at home. So I called in sick, but tried to work. Found that is was kind of difficult when you’re feverish and the only Panadol to be found in the house was some dodgy stuff I bought in Jakarta last December… Leaving home was out of the question. In the end decided to try out some home remedies that I’m familiar with.

1. Wear my hematite bracelet – in its own strange way, this stone bracelet helps you feel better. Don’t ask why.
2. Take 2 spoonfuls of Scott’s Emulsion (Orange) - I keep a bottle in the fridge specially for the times I’m feeling under the weather. Boosts immunity? Whateverlah.
3. Drink peppermint tea – for when plain water just won’t do.
4. Make ginger tea (air halia) – especially good to get rid of angin and warm you up. I kid you not.
5. Eat soupy stuff – in my case instant beehoon. Can la.
6. Last but not least – REST. Otherwise work slowly…

In any case, felt much better after doing the above. Figured I’d be hyper again by tomorrow. :-D

Zach, Hazami & Me

Took Zach for a checkup last Friday. He was given a clean bill of health. Yeay! Changed his tyres, fixed the alignment, gave him some V-Power and he was ready to roll!!

I took him for a long overdue road trip the next day. It was nice zooming along the highway and singing along to the radio. Zach handles like a babe, rock steady even while pushing 165… Oh yeah!! You gotta love that car :-D Hazami accompanied us - on the radio la…

Ku.. ingin bersama.. jelajah dunia…
Mencipta sebuah cerita judul kita…
:-D

Spent time with an old buddy down in Melaka, then proceeded further south; came back the next afternoon. Traffic really slowed down as we approached KL due to road hoggers on the fast lane. After Nilai the traffic was weaving in and out, trying to find some free-flow. The number of in-duh-viduals who don’t seem to understand the basics of using a multi-lane highway increased exponentially the closer we got to the big city. Sigh... lesen terbang ka? Thankfully there weren’t any accidents to contribute to the jam.

Got home safe & sound by 8.00 pm after a 3.5 hr trip. Hmm… that was fun! Gotta do it again sometime :-)

Moving on With Life…

P had his 3rd convo yesterday. He says it’d be the last. Really, dear? Are you sure? :-p

Had to crawl in the six o’clock jam after work to catch him in his robes. As I dreaded, the place was chock full of people, and DTC is smack in the middle of the main road. Thankfully there was a designated parking lot nearby. Couldn’t get him on the phone, so I had to do the other thing I dreaded, eyeballing an ocean of people for one particular person. It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. Good thing he’s tall and I knew what he’d be wearing, so I managed to spot him within a few minutes. He was obviously in demand, so I kept it relatively short. Snapped a photo, cadged a rose from his bouquet and took my leave.

Almost immediately, I found myself stuck on Jln Universiti. Darn, maybe I should have stuck around after all. But the crowd was driving me nuts! Ten years ago I would have laughed at the sight of a grad being tossed into the air. Now I worried he might be dropped and injure his back. Guess I changed. Comes with age, I think. I used to love convos. Bargains galore at the stalls, the happy faces, meeting graduated seniors again, … Now it’s just another event in a university. Been there, done that… twice. Enough la. But then, Chevening scholarships are up for grabs. Would love a chance to stay in the UK for a bit. Maybe there’s a short course that I’d care to attend… Hmm… we’ll see.

What a Dreary Day...

My mood pun macam tu jugak... Grey, malas nak bergerak. Have spent the day washing and cleaning and clearing up... Tu pun tak habis2 lagi. My own room and study is still dusty. Took breaks reading Emotional Intelligence, 1 or 2 sections at a time. Ntah biler la nak habis baca buku tu.... Tuannya pun tak abih baca lagi tu. Barely cooked beyond mixing up a pasta salad and brewing coffee. Dinner ni dari pasar malam la jawabnya. No food in the house. Was scheduled to scout for bargains at the PC Fair, but no mood to get out of the house. Am still mourning the lost ATEC, malas nak cari lappie baru. Have data to key in from yesterday's monitoring survey. Need to update calendar from last week's meetings. Have to plan for events that have landed in my lap. Timesheets for the boss. Assessment report. Bla di bla di bla ad infinitum. Nak call member, masing2 ntah kemana. Yang kerja, yang flying around, yang sakit, yang on holiday, etc etc etc. Hmmph... will just have to wade thru the morass. I know I'd feel much better after all these things have been dealt with. Sigh! I wish there wasn't so much to take care of...

TGIF!

Thank God it's Friday!

Have spent the week battling SpySheriff adware and trying to get back my emails on the computer. Hardly got anything done. Virus is horribly annoying - pop ups every 2 minutes displaying unmentionable content. And the windows kenot close one!! It puts shortcuts to unmentionable sites on my desktop... Ewww!! So degil, can clear off all the adware, but remaining trojan ALWAYS reinstalls the &^%$% thing when I restart! Gave up and sent the machine to reformat.

Now I'm having trouble reinstating my carefully backed-up emails in Outlook. Have won the battle with OE, so at least one problem down. Wonder if it's worth the trouble though, because PIKOM PC fair is on until Sunday and I'm planning to scout for a cheaper & smaller lappie. If there are no good bargains, I'll order one from my regular shop in DJ. That means moving the data yet again, plus I'd need to sell off current machine to recover cost. Sigh.... So tiring one... Girls, jom gi massage nak?

Esok have to be at my 'si-fu's place by 6 a.m. Nasib baik malam ni free. Aaahhh.... can lepak at home, baca buku citer... or go for a swim in Kelana Jaya. IF I don't end up cleaning house that is... sigh... Sabar ajelah, nak buat camner, kan? Just make the best of it la. C'est la vie...

Have a good weekend, mes amis... :-D

Catching up with life

It's Monday morning again, after a weekend away from civilization as we knew it.

Was trying to get things into a semblance of order on Friday, spent the whole day paying off bills, making arrangements for an MNS drive the next day, etc etc etc. At night had dinner with Aizan & birthday girl Norma, bought a cake, went to Ilham. Later I picked up Inas and we went to Coffee Bean at The Curve to celebrate Inas & Norma's birthdays. Got home at 2.00 a.m. and woke up at six to pack for the weekend trip :-p

Li Li picked me up at 8.00. Saturday morning was spent in SK Bkt Damansara, where Lara had kindly allowed us to share her booth space. Found that the school had a "Save the Sharks" campaign before the school Family Day. They had many activities and even had a Shark Room decorated for the day. I was really impressed!! It had info on shark biology, fun facts, myths, drawings, etc. EXCELLENT!! At midday we quit, the heat was getting too much for me. Stopped by shell to get 100Plus, got home, put the AC on and took a nap.

Aizan called me at 3.30 and arrived 15 minutes later to send us to Gombak. 4 of us went up to Teratak Kami, a home for delinquent kids. We brought some food, and spent the rest of the weekend making friends with the boys. Mama has done wonders for these kids. Hope to visit them again some time. Aizan picked us up in the evening, had dinner and sent us home.

As for today, I have tons yet undone, my table is a disaster and I have loads of promises to live up to. Its gonna a busy week... Have a good one, peeps! Over and out. :-)
